PROPOSED CONSENT ORDER

Jackson County

Pursuant to the provisions of the Alabama Environmental Management Act, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management is proposing to issue a Consent Order to the Utilities Board of the City of Bridgeport (Bridgeport Sewage Lagoon), NPDES Permit Number AL0020991, located on County Road 71, Bridgeport, Jackson County, Alabama.

The violations noted in the Consent Order consist of effluent permit limitation violations, failure to monitor effluent flow, failure to conduct all testing, sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs), and failure to properly operate and maintain all facilities and systems of treatment and control as required in its Permit conditions.

The Department is proposing a civil penalty in the amount of $10,000. The Order, if issued, would require the Utilities Board of the City of Bridgeport to submit an Engineering Report; submit progress reports; submit a certification of compliance, and comply with all Permit conditions.
