The Alabama Department of Environmental Management has made $3,290,000 in financial assistance available to the Dale County Water Authority using funds from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan program.  In accordance with State and Federal regulations that govern the program, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management has conducted a review to assess potential impacts upon the environment that may result from implementation of these drinking water system improvements.

The Dale County Water Authority proposes improvements to its existing water production, storage, and distribution system.  Improvements will include development of a new 500 GPM water production well, construction of a new 300,000 gallon elevated water storage tank, and installation of approximately 50,000 LF of new 6 & 8-inch water distribution main and related appurtenances. Proposed improvements will insure continued provision of quality drinking water to all Dale County Water Authority service area customers.

The Department has determined that proposed projects will not have significant adverse impact upon the environment and consequently is herewith issuing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) to support the use of SRF funds for construction of the proposed projects.  However, this determination may be reconsidered if significant adverse information concerning potential environmental impacts of proposed projects is discovered.

Comments relative to this project should be submitted in writing to Mr. William Lott, SRF Section, Permits and Services Division, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, Post Office Box 301463, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-1463, no later than 30 days after the date of this FONSI.  The Alabama Department of Environmental Management will not take formal action to proceed with the project without carefully evaluating any public comments opposing the project.

This notice is hereby given this 11th day of July, 2019, by authorization of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
