Notice of Availability of Proposed Total Maximum Daily Loads for
Various Waterbodies Located in the State of Alabama
July 15, 2012
Section 303(d)(1)(C) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), 33 U.S.C. 1313(d)(1)(C), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implementing regulation, 40 C.F.R. 130.7(c)(1), require the establishment of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for waters identified as being impaired pursuant to �303(d)(1)(A) of the CWA. Each TMDL is to be established at a level necessary to implement applicable water quality standards with seasonal variations and a margin of safety, accounting for lack of knowledge concerning the relationship between effluent limitations and water quality. At this time, ADEM is proposing TMDLs for the following waters located in Alabama.

The proposed TMDLs, to include supporting documents, technical information, data and analyses are available for review during normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the ADEM Main Office located at 1400 Coliseum Boulevard, Montgomery, Alabama. Hard copies or electronic copies of the subject documents can be obtained by contacting Mr. Chris Johnson at 334-271-7827 or cljohnson@adem.state.al.us. Persons wishing to submit comments on the proposed TMDLs or wish to offer new data regarding the same are invited to do so in writing to Mr. Chris Johnson, Water Division, Alabama Department of Environmental Management, P.O. Box 301463, Montgomery, Alabama 36130-1463 (street address: 1400 Coliseum Boulevard, Montgomery, Alabama 36110-2059). Written comments must be received by the Department prior to 5:00 p.m. on August 14, 2012.
