Notice of Availability of Proposed Total Maximum Daily Loads for Certain Waterbodies Located Within the State of Alabama

Section §303(d)(1)(C) of the Clean Water Act (CWA), 33 U.S.C. §1313(d)(1)(C), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implementing regulation, 40 C.F.R. §130.7(c)(1), require the establishment of Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs) for waters identified as being impaired pursuant to §303(d)(1)(A) of the CWA.  Each TMDL is to be established at a level necessary to implement applicable water quality standards with seasonal variations and a margin of safety, accounting for lack of knowledge concerning the relationship between effluent limitations and water quality.  At this time, the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) is proposing TMDLs for the following waters and pollutants located within the State of Alabama.
